Bats (1999) (executive producer)
Bats, the result of a government experiment gone wrong, have suddenly become intelligent, vicious, and omnivorous, and are attacking people near Gallup, Texas. Bat specialist Sheila Casper and her assistant Jimmy are brought in but can they stop the bats before the military comes in and, in their ignorance, makes things worse?

Four Black women, all of whom have suffered for lack of money and at the hands of the majority, undertake to rob banks. While initially successful, a policeman who was involved in shooting one of the women's brothers is on their trail. As the women add to the loot, their tastes and interests begin to change and their suspicions of each other increase on the way to a climactic robbery.

Connie Doyle is eighteen and pregnant her boyfriend has kicked her out. She accidentally ends up on a train where she meets Hugh Winterbourne and his wife Patricia who is pregnant. The train wrecks and she wakes up in the hospital to find out that it's been assumed that she's Patricia. Hugh's mother takes her in and she falls in love with Hugh's brother Bill. Just when she thinks everything is going her way, her ex-boyfriend shows up.
S.F.W. (1994) (producer)... aka So Fucking What? (USA: long title)
5 people are being held hostage in a convenience store for 36 days. One of the demands of the hostage takers is that all TV-stations should broadcast the entire situation live. Cliff and Wendy are the only survivors, and when the are released, they are heroes. Especially Cliff is a national hero, and his apathetic ideology "so fucking what" turns into a national movement. Cliff himself is not that happy about all the fuzz.
A Home of Our Own (1993) (producer)
The story is located in Los Angeles in the sixties. An energetic widow, Frances Lacey, with her six children try to make a dream of theirs come true: to have a home of their own. Therefore they leave Los Angeles and head for the countryside, while facing all kinds of difficulties during their journey.
House of Cards (1993) (producer)
When Ruth Matthews's husband is killed in a fall at an archaeological dig, her daughter Sally handles her father's death in a very odd manner. As Sally's condition worsens, Ruth takes her to see Jake, an expert in childhood autism. Jake attempts to bring Sally out of her mental disarray through traditional therapy methods, but Ruth takes a different route. She risks her own sanity by attempting to enter her daughter's mind and make sense of the seemingly bizarre things that Sally does, including building a wondrous house of cards.
A Midnight Clear (1992) (producer)
Set in 1944 France, an American Intelligence Squad locates a German Platoon wishing to surrender rather than die in Germany's final war offensive. The two groups of men, isolated from the war at present, put aside their differences and spend Christmas together before the surrender plan turns bad and both sides are forced to fight the other.

This movie tells the story of the latter years of Earl Long, a flamboyant governor of Louisiana. The aging Earl, an unapologetic habitue of strip joints, falls in love with young stripper Blaze Starr. When Earl and Blaze move in together, Earl's opponents use this to attack his controversial political program, which included civil rights for blacks in the 1950's. Can Earl keep Blaze and retain control of the state?

During the war in Afghanistan a Soviet tank crew commanded by a tyrannical officer find themselves lost and in a struggle against a band of Mujahadeen guerrillas in the mountains. A unique look at the Soviet 'Vietnam' experience sympathetically told for both sides.
These are the films I produced in my career in Hollywood, which lasted from 1985, when I first went to work for David Geffen, to my departure to North Carolina after producing MEET THE DEEDLES. I take no responsibility for BATS, since that was produced without my knowledge or input, and the credit is contractual. I did develop, with the screenwriter John Logan, the original version of the film. Otherwise, I am proud of the films I helped get made, and which fairly represent at least some of my aesthetic in theme, character and visual style.
